Historians say that the favorite drink of A.S. Pushkin was precisely orange juice, although during his lifetime a kilogram of oranges cost three times more than a sack of potatoes.

Now orange juice is very affordable, while it is also the most popular in the world.

This sunny drink uplifts the mood and warms the soul. It is especially useful during the period of spring beriberi. Vitamin C, which is a huge amount in this juice, helps to gain vitality and perk up.

Few people know that in addition to vitamin C, orange juice also contains a lot of folic acid. It is an excellent prevention of oncology, maintains the elasticity of blood vessels, it is also called the main female vitamin.

In addition, oranges protect against atherosclerosis, prevent the formation of blood clots, and, oddly enough, are even recommended for gastritis.

Errors in production technology affect not just the taste of the juice. These consequences are much more serious, because up to 1/3 of the vitamins are lost during processing, and if the rules are also violated, then what good can there be at all ?!

According to the existing requirements of regulatory documentation, dyes, preservatives, flavors and other ingredients should not be present in orange juice. nutritional supplements.

Two huge differences - freshly squeezed juice and juice from the package, ending with raw materials and starting from the price. And if in the juicer in which we put oranges, the whole process takes place right before our eyes, then what the packaged orange juice is made of remains a mystery.

In standard packages sold in our country, of course, juices are reconstituted, obtained by reconstitution from concentrated juice with the addition of water, often with the addition citric acid and sugar.

Regarding the observance of technology during the production of orange juice, then the question is as follows: how much concentrate to take and which concentrate to use, as well as which additives to use and determine their quantity.

restored classic juice implies that only two ingredients are used - this is the juice itself and water. But manufacturers can also add sugar, sorbic acid or citric acid.

By and large, you can simply make any juice from water, sugar, citric acid, dyes and flavors. But this is already called outright falsification, and you can no longer call such juice juice.

Often on packs of orange juice there is an inscription "Directly squeezed juice", which means the juice squeezed out of the fruit goes directly into the consumer packaging bought by the consumer.

However, in our country this is not possible for the banal reason that oranges do not grow in our area. In Russia, reconstituted juices are produced from cheap imported concentrate.

As in the case of apples, oranges grow quite massively and give an excellent harvest. Therefore, it is in itself cheap with a relatively good organization of work.

How to distinguish high-quality orange juice from low-quality? Simply, a trial method. If the orange juice stings the tongue, this guarantees additional use of citric acid in the juice. If this does not happen, this is a completely normal, balanced recipe, and, accordingly, the manufacturer withstands the technology.

Regarding packaging, any product packaged in glass is better. The same can be said for orange juice. And all because glass protects at the same time from ultraviolet rays, does not let oxygen through, and any product, including orange juice, is very well preserved in such a container.

Orange juice is a drink that is prepared by squeezing the fruit or by restoring the concentrate. The drink has a sweet taste with sourness and a refreshing aroma. Orange juice has a rich history, since ancient times people have enjoyed its taste and beneficial properties. However, even now it has not lost its popularity, so, in many countries of the world, this natural drink is drunk at breakfast.

The best oranges for juice are fruits from Malta, Sicily and Malaysia.

How to choose orange juice and how to store it?

How to choose and how much orange juice can be stored is interesting to many. Let's start in order.

Relying on the honesty of manufacturers, many people are guided by the popularity of the brand as the main criterion when choosing a product. Of course, this is the correct approach, but nevertheless, this indicator is not the main one.

The first thing the buyer should pay attention to is the composition of the product. You need to rely on the list of ingredients on the package. And believe me, all those who carefully study it will be disappointed. Not a single domestic manufacturer produces natural orange juice! Most often, nectars and fruit drinks under the guise of juice, as well as mono- and multi-component juice-containing drinks, get on the shelves. This is all to blame for the imperfect system of the State Standard and the permission to produce products according to the so-called technical conditions. In addition, product quality control is sometimes lame, and the product may not at all correspond to the composition stated on the package.

Natural orange juice can only be bought in countries where orange groves are grown, but its cost cannot be low, because even a liter of juice does not come out of one kilogram of oranges. There, the product is sold in glassware, in which its consistency should be visible. Given the need for it in our regions and the high cost of raw materials, which increases many times during transportation, natural orange juice is unlikely to be competitive in terms of price.

Products good quality, called juice, in their composition most often contain orange juice concentrated or restored from concentrate, sugar syrup, water and preservatives. Cheaper drinks may contain the same ingredients, but additionally include clarified apple juice. Products of low quality, but nevertheless called juices, in addition to all of the above, contain dyes and flavors. There is no need to talk about hidden additives in this case.

The best way to get a quality natural product is to make a drink at home. Just remember that you need to use fresh juice immediately after cooking. Of course, it can be put in the refrigerator and stored throughout the day, but all you can do for your body by drinking such juice is to quench your thirst. Juices produced food industry, are suitable for consumption throughout the entire time indicated on the package, but juice from an uncorked pack or can is recommended to be drunk in two days.

Beneficial features

The beneficial properties of orange juice are due to the presence of a large amount of vitamins and minerals. The drink acts as an antitumor and diuretic. At regular use in small quantities, the process of hematopoiesis in the bone marrow improves. Given the presence of a large amount of ascorbic acid and vitamin PP, orange juice strengthens the immune system and helps the body resist the negative effects of colds. In addition, vitamin C helps remove nicotine, so orange juice should be on the menu of people who smoke.

The drink acts as an anti-atherosclerotic agent and strengthens the walls of blood vessels. These properties lead to the use of orange juice by people who suffer from diseases of the cardiovascular system. With regular use, the risk of developing hypertension and coronary heart disease is reduced.

Orange juice helps break down fatty foods in the intestines, and it also improves the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, increases appetite and secretion of the digestive glands. This is what makes it possible to use this drink for the purpose of losing weight. By the way, reviews of losing weight testify to the effectiveness of the drink in burning fat.

AT traditional medicine there are recipes for treatment using freshly squeezed orange juice. They help to cope with gastritis, flatulence, constipation, swelling and stomatitis.

The composition of orange juice includes a large amount of pectins, which help to cope with constipation and cleanse the intestines of decay products. Due to this, the development of putrefactive processes in the intestine is reduced. In addition, the drink acts as a tonic that helps fight fatigue, giving a boost of energy. Orange juice is also considered an excellent powerful anti-carcinogenic agent.

orange juice during pregnancy and breastfeeding

Orange juice during pregnancy and breastfeeding is a separate topic for the article. Experts in industries such as medicine and nutrition have long argued over this issue. In some positions, opinions converge, while in others they radically differ. We tried to summarize the available knowledge, and now we are happy to share them with you.

To begin with, I would like to note that both categories of women can eat orange juice exclusively freshly squeezed. Even juice prepared with one's own hands, but standing for at least one hour, is considered harmful. And what can we say about juices produced by the food industry! It is strictly forbidden for women who are expecting a baby or nursing a baby to drink them. To preserve and improve the presentation, food additives are added to most of these juices.: flavors, aroma and taste enhancers, as well as various preservatives that negate beneficial features finished product and may also cause an allergic reaction.

With regard to natural orange juice, I would like to say the following. Pregnant women are allowed to use it and even useful. The mineral composition of the product helps to maintain balance, and also saturates the body with vitamins and trace elements. The only thing I would like to note is that orange juice should not be consumed in its pure form. It is best to dilute it with boiled water or less aggressive for the stomach. apple juice. The same rules when taking orange juice should be followed by nursing mothers. Only here is one But. This method does not work if the baby is under three months old. Such children have a weak immune system and do not yet receive nourishment other than mother's milk. Any new food in the mother's diet can cause an allergic reaction.

The diet of a woman during the period of feeding a baby is very poor: it is poor in vitamins and therefore needs careful planning. This issue is dealt with by experts in breastfeeding. Many of them recommend introducing any new product into the diet gradually, starting with one teaspoon per day, and then carefully monitor the child's reaction throughout the day.

The fact that the child's body took the new product well is evidenced by the absence of such phenomena as:

  • frequent regurgitation;
  • causeless anxiety;
  • bloating;
  • colic;
  • liquid stool;
  • increase in body temperature.

If the first attempt to introduce orange juice into the diet of a nursing mother in minimum quantity did not give undesirable consequences, then gradually the volume of juice can be increased. After a month after the start of the experiment, the amount of fresh juice consumed can reach two-thirds of a glass per day. And again, it is recommended to dilute it, as described above, with less aggressive liquids.

Use in cosmetology

How to do at home?

To be sure of the quality of the drink, it should be prepared at home. To do this, choose ripe, but dense, not sluggish fruits. First, it is worth softening the citrus fruits, for this, press them with your hand and swipe them across the table. Cut the oranges in half and remove the seeds. Take a juicer and squeeze out the juice. Scoop out some of the pulp with a spoon and add it to the juice. If you do not like the pulp, then strain the drink before drinking. To find for yourself the best option juice, when preparing it, experiment with various varieties oranges.

How to drink?

To get the maximum benefit, orange juice should be drunk immediately after preparation. To check if you have allergies, drink 1 tbsp. a spoonful of juice and only then increase the dose. It is worth starting with small amounts, it is enough to limit yourself to 50 ml of fresh. To check how the body reacts to orange juice, you should drink it on an empty stomach. If you do not feel any ailments, then you can safely continue to drink the drink without fear for your health. The daily rate should not be more than 1 liter.

Harm of orange juice and contraindications

Orange juice can cause harm when consumed on an empty stomach, as it increases the acidity of gastric juice. It is not recommended to use it for gastritis, ulcers, pancreatitis, enteritis and colitis. Such juice is contraindicated, that is, it is worth refusing to drink the drink with cholecystitis, hepatitis and cholelithiasis. Orange juice negatively affects the condition of tooth enamel, so it should be drunk through a straw. When drinking in large quantities, you can provoke weight gain and the development of type 2 diabetes.

I don't know about you, but for me best juice- orange. One of its colors - bright orange - is immediately able to give energy and cheer up. And the taste ... however, here there is just something to talk about. Despite the fact that all these beautiful boxes on store shelves seem to contain the same orange juice, their taste is significantly different. "Significantly" is, of course, a relative term. In any case, even after trying the contents with a blindfold, you will immediately say that it is an orange. But today, having tried 7 types of the product, I know for sure which juice I will constantly buy in the future, and which one - only as a last resort.

Sometimes you come to the store and start thinking - what kind of juice to buy? They are all different. I tried some, but you don’t remember what you liked and what you didn’t. As a result, you take what is currently more suitable for the budget. Of course, it would be better to buy freshly squeezed juice, which will be prepared right in your presence or which, already prepared, lies on ice in a bottle. But it is not always convenient and generally possible. Therefore, you have to choose from what is.

On the shelves of the juice department of the Auchan store, 8 types of orange juice were found. All boxes had the same volume - 1 liter, were made, of course, by different manufacturers and had very different prices. I would like to apologize in advance to the company that produced the J7 juice. He did not take part in today's testing. But not because it is special or too expensive. The reason is much simpler. When I loaded my cart with boxes, I just forgot to take a J7 box. It just so happened.

The saleswoman at the checkout looked at me with surprise. Still - the man scored seven boxes of juice, all orange, all different. The total purchase amount was 592 rubles. Standing in front of such a shelf, many people painfully think what kind of juice to choose so that it is not too expensive and not completely disgusting. I myself am no exception.

Still, when you buy juices one at a time, it is difficult to have a big picture in order to act more successfully in the future.

So I decided to spend money once so that later I would not hesitate to choose the best. In this article I will give my personal, purely subjective opinion. Of course, there is no dispute about tastes, but I think that my choice can at least serve as some kind of guideline. Looking ahead, I want to inform you that I really chose one product out of seven and now I will buy only it without hesitation, despite the fact that there are more expensive and well-packed counterparts.

No wonder I spent this amount today:

I ask you to ignore the line "wine glass" - these are disposable cups that I was going to use for testing. There is also a jar in the check (it will be necessary to drink all this orange chemistry with something natural :). If we subtract these positions, then the total amount is about 592 rubles.

So, let's put all the juices in a row and start getting to know them. This is what juice boxes look like from the front.

You must have recognized the manufacturers. Most likely, such juices are sold in your city. Maybe there are some local ones that are not represented here. Alas, it is impossible to collect a complete collection. Now let's rotate all the boxes and look at them from the side:

All packages, except the most extreme, have a screw cap. Its presence allows you to carry an already open box with you without fear of spilling the contents. It is convenient for picnics, walks around the city and other situations when you need to "drink on the go."

Now let's look at the boxes "from the back":

Some boxes have the same front and back sides. Others, such as Dobry Juice and Orchard, use the back wall to display additional information, promotions, and so on.

View from the other side:

This is what my experimental products look like today.

Now I will start opening the boxes, pouring and tasting the product. To my horror, at home, I found that I bought only 6 disposable cups, and I got seven juices. Therefore, I had to use ordinary glass goblets.

So, the boxes are open, the juices are spilled, we start testing.

How was the juice tasting

It is important to describe this, since a lot depends on the correct construction of the procedure.

First, the juices were sampled sequentially, one after the other, with an interval of approximately 30 seconds. This time was enough to let the recorder know how I felt about trying another product.

Secondly, the entire product line was tested not once, but three times. That is, after checking the very last juice, I returned to the first one and again consistently tried the entire row, communicating with the recorder, and then, after the last one, again returning to the first one. Thus, each juice was tasted three times. This is necessary in order to exclude the situation when one of the brightest products from the point of view of taste will “clog” all the others.

The biggest surprise was that these drinks, which are essentially supposed to be the same, are completely different from each other. Even if you look at the photo above, you can already see that some glasses contain a darker drink than others.

During the tasting, the following parameters were checked:

  • sweet-sour taste
  • bitter aftertaste,
  • pulp behavior,
  • foreign taste.

Of course, in a special laboratory it would be possible to perform a deeper and more comprehensive analysis. I will confine myself to purely consumer qualities of goods.

So let's start.

1. Orange juice ABC

He was the very first by accident. Producer - ODO "ABC Firm". Republic of Belarus. The price per liter is 106 rubles. The box states that the product contains nothing but orange juice itself. But this, of course, is not freshly squeezed juice, but reconstituted from concentrate. The product is sterilized, aseptically packed.

If this is the case, then this is already a big plus for this product. We all know our own attitude to all kinds of acidity regulators and other leavening agents with the letter "E".

Let's see how the surface of the juice poured into a glass looks like.

Look - the surface is flat, smooth. It reflects two of my fingers, which I deliberately held over the glass. A flat surface means that all the pulp, if present in the juice, settles down.

Now let's taste the juice.

1 approach:

He is sweet. The bitter aftertaste is very weak. This means that the oranges were still peeled, but some of it was still processed. On the other hand, the addition of grapefruit juice could give bitterness. However, it is not mentioned in the description. So, all the same, peel-zest.

As expected, the percentage of pulp is very small.

2 approach:

bitter aftertaste, no suspension.

3 approach:

there is almost no sediment at the bottom

Verdict: good but expensive. A good choice for lovers of juice without pulp.

2. Orange nectar "Good"

A fairly well-known well-known brand. The price per liter is 74 rubles. The box states that it also contains no preservatives. The minimum volume fraction of juice is 50%. The rest is water. Acidity regulator - citric acid. With pulp. In fact, this drink is not juice, but nectar. Moreover, the corresponding inscription is on the box only in one place (in the photo above) and is written in small print.

The difference between juices and nectars is as follows.

Juice is obtained either by direct extraction from fresh vegetables and fruits - this is the so-called freshly squeezed juice. Still sometimes water is evaporated from the squeezed juice to make it easier to transport it to the place of packaging. There, the required amount of water is added to the resulting concentrate and packaged. Sugar is sometimes added to the reconstituted juice, which should be reflected on the packaging. AT normative documents it is said that on the packaging of the product containing the word "juice" the mass fraction of fruit juice must be at least 85%.

There is less juice in the nectar itself - only 25-50%. The rest of the mass is "finished" with water and fruit puree. In principle, there is nothing wrong with this, nectars are also quite tasty.

By the way, it is generally very difficult to make juice from some fruits. For example, from a banana. And once I tried freshly squeezed undiluted pomegranate juice. I couldn’t finish my drink - my stomach cramped :). In these cases, nectar is a perfectly reasonable alternative.

The surface of the drink poured into a glass is uneven, bumpy. You can see a large content of pulp, which does not settle to the bottom, but is evenly distributed throughout the volume of the glass in the form of a suspension:

The reflection of the fingers on the surface is implicit, with distortions. Small bubbles are present. Lots of pulp.

Let's taste the nectar

1 approach:

Sweet. Sweeter than the previous one. There is absolutely no bitter aftertaste. Very saturated suspension of pulp, evenly distributed throughout the volume. Even in the most upper layers a lot of pulp. If she falls to the bottom, then not immediately. And. the pulp is not a puree mass, but the presence of real orange particles in the liquid.

In general, a lot of pulp is an amateur. I really liked it. On a purely psychological level, you understand that this is real juice, not chemistry.

2 approach:

while it is the best for me, rich, sweet, a lot of pulp, in some way it can even be chewed. It turns out not a drink, but a "bait" :), no bitter aftertaste.

3 approach:

still very tasty - the best of all.

Verdict: Very tasty, though nectar, not juice. I liked it. But if you do not like the pulp, this is not your option.

3. Orange juice "RICH"

In translation, the name Rich means "rich". The cost of a liter is 108 rubles. This is the most expensive juice of all that got tested. Positioned as a serious choice for wealthy people, I have seen just such a juice more than once at official events for high-ranking persons.

The drink poured into a glass has an almost flat surface:

Let's taste the juice

1 approach:

Less sweet, with a slight sourness, pronounced bitter aftertaste. There is some pulp, but less than in Good.

2 approach:

3 approach:

very bitter, expected more!

Verdict: overpriced, did not live up to expectations, I will not buy.

4. Orange juice "I"

The price per liter is 106 rubles. The inscription on the box immediately catches the eye: "The product is intended for feeding children of preschool and school age from 3 years old." I would like to look into the eyes of that brilliant person who composed it, but even more so - to the one who approved the layout of the box design. Perhaps I misunderstood something, but if you are releasing a product for the mass user, please write in such a way that it is clear even to a fool.

The drink poured into a glass has an almost smooth surface.

Let's taste the juice

1 approach:

If it was freshly squeezed juice, then I would not hesitate to say that some of the fruits used for preparation were moldy. Since the technology for the production of reconstituted juice excludes the development of mold in the concentrate, I don’t even know what to think. I can only say that the bitter-putrid aftertaste was an unpleasant surprise for me. All the same, expensive juice should not leave such a feeling. Suspension of pulp is present, but insignificant.

2 approach:

I confirm the presence of a putrid taste (maybe the batch is unsuccessful?), The taste is insignificant, but it is felt distinctly.

3 approach:

the taste of spoiled oranges, to be honest, I did not expect this from Yashka.

Verdict: not tasty, I will not buy.

5. Orange juice "Santal"

Also without preservatives, also restored. The price per liter is 82 rubles. Manufactured by the Parmalat Group. One enterprise is located in Italy, in the city of Parma (probably, hence the name of the group of companies), the second - in Belgorod, Russia. Naturally, I got the Russian version. I wonder if the juice bottled in Italy has the same price? And the taste?

Let's taste the juice

1 approach:

Sourish. Less sweet than Dobry. Virtually no pulp. Bitter aftertaste.

2 approach:

bitter aftertaste, and quite strong

3 approach:

no pulp, just liquid juice.

Verdict: a normal choice for those who do not like juice with pulp. I will not buy myself because of bitterness.

6. Orange nectar "Orchard"

Price - 69 rubles.

This is also not juice, but nectar.

Please note: the volume of the package is not 1 liter, but 0.95 liters. Outwardly, you can’t distinguish it from an ordinary liter box. But with mass production, good savings are achieved. This helps to reduce the cost of the product. The surface of the drink poured into the glass is perfectly flat. Objects are well reflected. This indicates the absence of pulp.

Let's taste the nectar

1 approach:

The complete absence of pulp, the taste is neutral - rather sweet than sour. The bitter aftertaste is completely absent.

2 approach:

no bitter aftertaste, sweet, rather thin

3 approach:

sweet, the suspension settled to the bottom, but this is not the pulp of an orange, but rather mashed potatoes. Basically, it's fine!

Verdict: a justified choice for those who want to get a normal tasting product and save a little.

7. Orange nectar "Every day"

The price per liter is 38 rubles. She is disturbing. After all, it turns out that for the cost of one liter of RICH juice, you can buy almost three liters of "Every Day" nectar. It is worth mentioning. "Every Day" is one of Auchan's own brands. Such goods are generally cheaper, because they are produced in fantastic volumes and scatter throughout the country. By the way, many (but not all) products of this brand have a quality quite comparable with more expensive counterparts.

Packaging of nectar "Every day" has no twist. This immediately limits its use. If there is a twist, then you can buy yourself a liter of juice and gradually drink it, wandering around the city on your own business. "Every day" if you opened it - if you please, finish drinking everything. Otherwise, the liquid may spill in the bag and ruin something you need.

The composition of the nectar is exactly the same as the composition of "Good", only without the addition of pulp. Perhaps the taste will be the same?

The surface of the drink poured into the glass is perfectly smooth. Judging by the lighter color, the concentration of juice in the nectar loses to the previous version, although each one says on the package - at least 50%. There is no suspension at all, but the puree-like mass accumulated at the bottom of the glass in the form of a small sediment.

Let's taste the nectar

1 approach:

The taste is very peculiar, not like the taste of other tested drinks. More like a tangerine than an orange. Very liquid, no suspension. A bit like the ZUKO instant juice that used to be sold in sachets (just add water).

2 approach:

sweet, some not very natural taste

3 approach:

I can't shake the feeling that it's some kind of chemistry

Verdict: despite the low price I will not buy for myself. Might be worth buying for unfamiliar guests. Just immediately need to pour the drink into decanters, and immediately throw away the packaging so that no one sees them :)

What is the best orange juice

Well, that's all. Let's summarize.

If I want to really enjoy orange juice, now I will definitely buy "Dobry" - the price is 74 rubles per liter.

If I just want juice, without pulp, then I will buy a box from the "ABC company" - 84 rubles.

If I want to save money on dear guests - "Orchard" will help me - 69 rubles.

Expensive "cool" juices disappointed. RICH is too bitter, "Yashka" is kind of spoiled. Maybe I don’t understand something in the subtle matters of the “bouquet”, but I won’t buy such juices for myself anymore.

As I said earlier, everyone has their own individual taste, so this article cannot be an unconditional guideline for everyone. I just expressed my own opinion and made my own choice. At the same time, I was once again convinced that the most expensive product is not always the most delicious.

Fresh orange juice is a storehouse of ascorbic acid. Everyone knows about it. But this is not the only advantage of orange juice, which is worth knowing about. It can be used to improve health, give a radiant appearance and also used to prepare various delicious dishes.

For all its usefulness, not everyone can drink this drink: in addition to positive properties, orange juice can be harmful under certain conditions. To enjoy it without fear, you should figure out what benefits and harms it can have, how to choose it correctly and how to cook it yourself.

Chemical composition

Orange juice contains proteins, fats and carbohydrates (b:g:y) in small amounts, making it the “golden mean” in terms of calories among fruit juices. The ratio in it b:g:y depends on the method of production. With almost the same content of proteins (0.7-0.9 g) and fats (0.1-0.2 g), the amount of carbohydrates differs: 8.1 g in freshly squeezed juice and 13.2 g in factory juice. Accordingly, the calorie content also differs: 36 kcal per 100 g of a freshly squeezed drink and up to 60 kcal per 100 g of an industrial one (due to the addition of sugar).

This juice contains a large amount of vitamins C, A, E and K, macro- and microelements, antioxidant substances, flavonoids, pectins.

In addition to vitamins, the drink contains potassium, sodium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and iron. These essential minerals for human life are contained in a bioavailable form, so they are almost completely absorbed in the intestine. Iron is especially well absorbed, which "loves" an acidic environment. The acidity of the drink made from oranges (pH index = 2.8) contributes to this.

Fresh from all drinks from oranges is the most useful. Citrus pulp is rich in fiber, which does not affect the calorie content of freshly squeezed orange juice, but has many beneficial effects on the human body. The drink is a source of vitamin C: the content of ascorbic acid in a glass of fresh juice covers the daily requirement for it. A feature of orange ascorbic acid is that it is contained in it in the form of a stable substance that is not destroyed by boiling for 5 minutes.

Juice from orange peel and pulp. Orange peel contains more vitamins, flavonoids, organic acids, essential oils. The composition of the peel also includes an aromatic hydrocarbon - d-limonene, which has a pronounced citrus smell and has many beneficial properties for the human body. Get one like this healthy drink You can use a juicer or blender.

Beneficial features

The less additional components ingredients is included in the juice, the more natural and therefore healthier it is. Fresh with pulp is preferable to its other types, because it is "live" and does not contain sugar. This drink has an average glycemic index of 40, which makes it possible to include orange juice in the diet for diabetes.

This citrus drink has many beneficial effects on the human body:

  • diuretic;
  • sokogonny;
  • hypotensive;
  • hematopoietic;
  • vascular strengthening;
  • antiatherosclerotic;
  • hemostatic;
  • blood-purifying;
  • decongestant;
  • anticarcinogenic.

Freshly squeezed juice can be beneficial for those prone to constipation, and its low calorie makes it a dietary product. These properties of the drink allow you to include it in the diet. diet food wanting to lose weight.

In order for the beneficial properties of orange juice to be fully manifested, you need to know how to drink it correctly. Healthy people fresh is better to drink in the morning for breakfast. At the same time, this should be done not on an empty stomach, but after eating.

In some diseases (for gastritis with low acidity, biliary dyskinesia), it is necessary to drink orange juice on an empty stomach, but before drinking, you need to dilute it with water in half. In other cases, with diseases of the digestive system, which are not contraindications, it is better to drink a drink from these citrus fruits after a meal, otherwise its low acidity when taken orally on an empty stomach will irritate the gastric mucosa.

Daily use of orange fresh in the morning improves mood and vitality, strengthens the immune system, improves digestion, and prevents constipation.

If a person wants orange juice, then this means that his body has a deficiency of some substances that are contained in these citrus fruits, most often it is a lack of vitamin C.

Possible harm

A drink made from oranges, given its composition, is certainly beneficial for the body. Rich chemical composition drink from oranges and the many beneficial properties it provides are confusing: how can it be harmful?

Orange juice is harmful to drink on an empty stomach (except gastritis with low acidity) and at night. It can cause heartburn in people with high acidity of gastric juice.

Contraindications to the use of this drink are some diseases of the digestive system (peptic ulcer of the stomach or duodenum, acute pancreatitis, hepatitis, colitis).

Do not forget about the allergenicity and low acidity of this product, which become a limitation for its use by people under certain conditions (in childhood, during pregnancy, allergies).

Due to the allergization of the body of the newborn, orange drinks (juices, fruit drinks) should be abandoned to mothers during breastfeeding.

The use of the drink should be limited to children. The daily intake of this product per day for them should not exceed half a glass, because unforeseen allergic reactions or food poisoning may occur.

Freshly squeezed orange juice, due to its acidity, damages tooth enamel: it creates the thinnest acid film on the surface of tooth enamel, which destroys it. In order for this drink to be beneficial, but at the same time caries does not occur, it must be drunk through a straw.

From excessive consumption of oranges or drinks made from them, urine can change its color, becoming orange. Since this sign can be a symptom of dangerous pathologies (kidney bleeding, infections of the genitourinary system, dehydration), if the color of urine changes, you should immediately consult a doctor.

Application in traditional medicine

Freshly squeezed orange juice improves appetite and digestion, so doctors recommend drinking it for many internal diseases. As a remedy, it is diluted with water, defended, filtered. Cooking healing juice not only from the pulp, but also from orange peels, other drinks, decoctions and infusions are added.

Orange juice is rich in vitamin C and carotenoids, which are powerful antioxidants. By binding toxic substances and toxins in the blood, orange juice helps detoxify the body through the kidneys and liver. In addition, carotenoids increase visual acuity and improve blood supply to the tissues of the eye and fundus, so this drink is recommended to drink with eye diseases.

Since orange juice contains pulp and pectins, it helps to accelerate intestinal motility, providing a mild laxative effect. For a laxative effect, it is necessary to squeeze the juice from one orange and dilute with warm water in a ratio of 1:2-1:3. A glass of this diluted warm orange juice should be drunk at night.

Orange juice can also lower blood pressure. Due to the diuretic effect, it reduces the volume of circulating blood. The high content of potassium, magnesium and calcium in this drink contributes to the normalization of the tone of the vascular walls, which affects the intravascular pressure.

With the help of orange juice, the body is cleansed. To do this, within 7-10 days you need to drink a glass of fresh water, diluted with water, a day. In order not to provoke exacerbations of inflammatory diseases of the stomach, intestines, pancreas or liver, you can not drink juice on an empty stomach.

Orange juice is good for hangovers. The citric acid contained in oranges is involved in the detoxification of alcohol metabolism products. By speeding up the breakdown of toxic alcohol metabolites, the drink alleviates hangovers. Juice from orange peels and pulp is especially effective in this.

Application for weight loss

Fresh oranges are a good dietary product. One glass of natural orange juice contains 88 calories. If the drink is diluted in half with water, you can reduce the calorie content in one glass by half.

To achieve the desired result from the diet, you should follow certain rules:

  1. For weight loss, you need to prepare orange juice with your own hands, and not use the drink in a bottle or in bags.
  2. How much drink should you drink per day? During the day, you need to drink no more than 800 ml of juice from the press.
  3. How to dilute orange juice? To do this, you need to dilute fresh juice with water in half or in a ratio of 1: 3.
  4. What to mix it with? This drink in different diets is mixed with vegetables or other citrus juices. For example, in Kim Protasov's diet, which is named after its author, fresh oranges are mixed with fresh grapefruits and lemons in a ratio of 4:4:1. According to the author of the diet, such a drink stimulates not only weight loss, but also cleanses the lymphatic system.

The duration of the diet on orange juice should not be long, so as not to cause inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. Nutritionists have developed orange diets for 5, 7, 14 or more days, but reviews of losing weight about their effectiveness and side effects indicate that five to seven days is enough.

Orange juice is also good for the face: enriching the body with vitamins and minerals, this orange drink makes the skin of the face fresh and supple.

How to choose and store

In terms of health benefits, commercial orange drinks in bags are inferior to freshly squeezed juice, which we prepare ourselves at home. Depending on the production technology, the type of feedstock and the proportions of natural juice and auxiliary components in the composition, the following types of orange drinks are distinguished (according to GOST):

  • direct juice (prepared from ripe whole fruits);
  • concentrated (produced by evaporating excess liquid, thereby thickening the consistency);
  • reconstituted (recovered from concentrate);
  • nectar (the share of juice in it is 20-50%);
  • fruit drink (not less than 15%);
  • juice drink (not less than 10%).

These drinks are listed in descending order of natural orange juice content and, accordingly, the decrease in their beneficial properties. Nectars, fruit drinks and juice-containing drinks cannot be given the name "juice". Orange semi-finished products for making a drink at home are also on sale - these are concentrates and syrups.

Each buyer should carefully read the information on the label. It is usually written in small print on the opposite side. This information must be presented in Russian and contain information about the manufacturer, the composition and calorie content of the product, storage conditions and terms.

All industrial drinks are pasteurized before bottling, which increases their shelf life. Orange drinks can be stored for up to 1 year at temperatures from 0 to +25°C. Juice after opening the package is stored for a short time: at a temperature of +2° to +6°C no longer than 2 days.

How to make your own juice

To be sure of the quality and benefits of an orange drink, you need to prepare it yourself. Each housewife should find her own recipe for homemade orange juice, which will be convenient for her to cook with her own hands.

You can make orange juice at home. This can be done even without special tools - using a fork. But the process of preparing a drink from oranges is greatly facilitated by the presence of an apparatus for squeezing it (manual or electric juicer, hand press, blender). With the help of manual presses, it is possible to squeeze out up to 50 ml, and in a blender or electric juicer, you can get up to 100-140 ml of juice from one fruit.

Natural fresh is useful, but it is not enough. In addition, it is sour, which some family members may not like. What can be done from it to increase the quantity and “improve” the taste?

Orange juice and citric acid

To prepare it, you need to squeeze the juice from two pre-frozen oranges. After defrosting, they become very soft, and it is easier to squeeze juice from them.

The pulp should be poured into 1.5 liters of cold boiled water, insisted for 10-15 minutes, strained through a fine sieve. Pour another 3 liters of water into the filtered drink, add 0.5 kg of sugar and 1 tbsp. l. citric acid. This drink of oranges and citric acid is a very economical option: two frozen fruits make 4.5 liters of drink. If, after preparation, this drink is boiled and hot orange juice is poured into sterilized jars or bottles, you can get a blank for the winter.

The taste of this juice is very similar to store-bought orange nectar. According to the reviews of visitors to various online culinary forums, it is the most favorite homemade citrus drink.

orange juice

Orange juice can be cooked different ways, including in the multicooker. First you need to freeze two oranges for a day, before squeezing - defrost, peel and grind in a blender. Pour sugar (1.5 cups from the multicooker) and 3 liters of warm boiled water into the liquid, mix. Turn on the "Warming up" mode for 1.5 hours. Hot drink must be passed through a sieve. Orange juice in a slow cooker is enriched with the aroma and taste of oranges, but loses many useful properties.

Use in cooking

Orange juice is healthy and delicious drink. It is often used in cooking to prepare a variety of delicacies: cakes, muffins, cookies, jelly with gelatin, jelly, fruit ice, sorbets, ice cream. Especially often orange juice is added to meatless dishes in which there are no eggs, milk, butter. The acid of this drink is leveled with sugar or honey before use in dishes.

An orange juice cocktail can be prepared by mixing it with other fruit juices(apple, quince, plum), sweet carbonated drinks, yogurt, banana. Recently, coffee with orange juice, sugar and cream has become popular.

Orange juice goes well with alcoholic drinks. Whiskey or rum can act as an alcoholic component in such cocktails. In our country, these ingredients can be replaced by the more popular alcohol - vodka. Instead of strong alcohol, you can add champagne or martini to an alcoholic cocktail, which are diluted with juice in equal proportions.

Orange juice has long ceased to be exotic in our country. But you need to be careful with it: stains can remain on the fabric from it. Fresh stains are removed with running water or salt. Old stains are more difficult to remove: they can be removed with stain removers, and at home with glycerin or a mixture of baking soda and vinegar.

A drink made from oranges is a symbol of the sun, health and temptation. It is so popular in everyday life that people even dream about it in their dreams. There is even an interpretation of such dreams: drinking orange juice in a dream portends a new romance, a love affair.

conclusions

Freshly squeezed orange juice is a symbol of a cheerful morning. It contains many vitamins and minerals, flavonoids, pectins, essential oils, organic acids, but at the same time it is a dietary product. Orange fresh has a lot useful action on the human body: improves digestion, removes toxic substances and excess fluid, strengthens blood vessels, cleanses the blood and lymph.

But the low acidity of the drink is a contraindication to its use in inflammatory and ulcerative processes in the gastrointestinal tract, allergies. Industrial drinks should not be consumed by diabetics and obese people. It is limited to use this product for children and pregnant women. Due to the high allergenicity, it is not recommended to drink it for nursing mothers.
