And all the weeks this set of provisions stood, “under lock and key” in the refrigerator, until the cherished day. And how I wanted to grab a piece of sausage, but - no! "Don't touch, it's on New Year!" - Mom said sternly, and I had to peck semolina.

Let's remember our youth and prepare our "Fur coat" in the form of a roll today in a new way.

Ingredients:

- 2 - 3 boiled potatoes,
- 1 - 2 boiled beets,
- 2 boiled carrots,
- 1 pickled or salted herring,
- salt, pepper, onion,
- mayonnaise.

Vegetables, except for potatoes (we boil them in their uniforms), bake in the oven. Cool the whole set and clean. Herring, if it is a fillet, then simply cut into cubes, if a whole fish, we clean it from the bones and cut it in the same way. Let's start assembling the roll.
Line the cutting board with cling film. We rub the beets on a grater (medium or fine), lay them out in an even layer on the film, leaving about 3-4 cm free space around the edges. If the beets are too juicy, then you need to squeeze it out a little beforehand. The beetroot layer of our "Shuba" salad-roll can be slightly salted and peppered. If desired, you can grease with a little mayonnaise.





Next lay out the carrots. We make less than the beetroot layer by 1 cm. Lubricate with mayonnaise.





The next layer is grated potatoes. We lay it out and make less than a carrot layer by about 1 cm on each side. Lubricate potatoes with mayonnaise.





The last layer is herring. We spread it in the middle and sprinkle with onion and pepper.
If you undertake to pickle herring yourself - the recipe is simple! A set of products - fresh-frozen herring, 1 onion, 1.5 tsp. salt; 0.5 tsp Sahara; 1 st. l. vinegar; 1.5 st. l. lemon juice. We defrost the herring, completely clean it from the skin, ridge, entrails. Cut into portioned pieces, cut the onion into rings. Cooking marinade - salt, sugar, spices, vinegar, lemon juice. We spread the herring, onion in a glass dish and pour everything with marinade. Let marinate for 12 hours. Herring is ready!







Carefully, prying off the edges of the film, we fold our “Fur Coat”, or rather, “Muff”, into a roll.





We put the roll in the refrigerator for the night so that it soaks and takes shape. Before serving, carefully remove the entire film and decorate with parsley sprigs. Our salad roll "Herring under a fur coat" is ready in a new way! Serve to the festive table.

In view of the approaching holidays, today I have a great idea on how to present a long-familiar familiar dish, making something new out of it. Today we will prepare a fur coat in the form of a roll, it is very tasty and festive, although the idea is not new, but it is very impressive and beautiful. To prepare this roll, I took all the components as for, but in slightly different proportions, and I also need a little gelatin to keep the roll in shape. It turned out very tasty, such a very, very tender snack roll with a familiar, but transformed taste. Despite the fact that this is a fur coat, the taste from is distinguished by greater tenderness and delicacy. I really liked the roll, some of my tasters said that the roll is tastier than the classic fur coat!

Cooking:

Cook beets in any convenient way. This time I cooked the beets in the microwave, for this you just need to put them in a baking sleeve or in a regular bag, and cook at full power for 5-10 minutes. Or you can boil the beets in a saucepan or bake in the oven.
Boil potatoes and carrots until tender.
Eggs also boil and cool.

Clean the herring from bones and skins, how to do it in detail in the recipe for a classic fur coat -. Then cut the herring into thin narrow strips. Or you can use ready-made herring in jars, it is desirable that it be without spices and the like. I prefer a fur coat with an ordinary herring.

Peel the onion, cut into small cubes, and scald with boiling water (this is optional, in order to make it less spicy). Next, if desired, pickle the onion, just add 1-2 tsp. wine or apple cider vinegar(I scalded and marinated).

Pre-soak gelatin in 50 ml of water, leave for the time indicated on the package. Then heat to a hot state so that the gelatin dissolves (I do this in the microwave), cool.
Pour the prepared gelatin into the mayonnaise, while stirring.

We collect the roll.
Grate the beets on a fine grater. To get very small chips (but not puree!). If the beets have released a lot of juice when rubbed, then it is better to drain it.
Add 2-3 tbsp. l. mayonnaise (about 4th part of the total mass), salt to taste, mix well.

Cover the board with a film in two layers, for convenience, fix it on the sides with kitchen clothespins.
Put the beets in a thin rectangular layer, flatten.

Potatoes also grate on a fine grater, also add mayonnaise, salt, and put on top of the beets.
It was this layer, from potatoes, that was not easy to decompose, I immediately made flat cakes in my hands, which I laid out on top.

In the same way, grate the carrots, add mayonnaise, lay out, smooth.

Next, a little closer to you, lay out half of the onion, on top of the whole herring (herring may seem like a lot, but do not hesitate, put it all, pressing it slightly so as not to fall apart), and on top of the second half of the onion.
In total, the layer with beets should be larger, all the rest should be smaller. When mixing with mayonnaise, I salted each layer. Despite the presence of a herring in a fur coat, I still always salt each layer, although many do not do this. But I do not understand fresh vegetables, which seem even fresher against the background of herring, but this is a matter of taste.

Then, helping yourself with a film, wrap the front part onto the herring, then the far part towards yourself to make a roll. Outside, trim the roll over the film with your hands, if necessary, you can roll it slightly back and forth so that the layer of beets evenly covers the roll on all sides.
Place in the refrigerator until completely solidified for several hours or overnight.

Carefully remove the film, sprinkle with herbs if desired, I have dill.
