Many women love to serve cakes that they made with their own hands for tea at various holidays. A mastic bow will become a magnificent decoration for wonderful sweets. Now we will analyze master classes on creating cakes with bows.

Mastic is similar to a simple sweet mass that resembles plasticine. With the help of cream, you can make different figures, the appearance and shape of which will be made more and more difficult and unusual with the acquisition of experience and skills.

Over time, to decorate a luxurious cake, you will be able to mold an elegant girl out of mastic - if an event such as a bachelorette party is planned, or just a birthday girl - especially female you like. If the hero of the occasion is a man, a shirt can be made from mastic. For New Year's table a bottle of champagne will come in handy - it can be a cake decoration and the cake itself can be made in the form of a bottle and decorated with mastic.

First you need to know how mastic is made, and try to create the first decoration in the shape of a bow.

Ingredients used in making sweet mass, may be different. Milk mastic is made by mixing dry and condensed milk. Many masters make a lot of kefir, mixing it with powder and lemon juice.

For creating sugar mastic Soak gelatin in cold water for a couple of hours. After everything swells, melt the gelatin in a water bath, then cool and mix with citric acid.

Choose a color

Before creating a bow from mastic, you need to decide on the main color. It depends on what kind of cake you want to end up with. The color of the bow should be the same as the dessert (a little darker or lighter), or bright and appropriate.

After choosing the color of our delicacy and future decoration, the mastic itself is divided into a certain number of parts, dyes are added to them and mixed thoroughly again.

Master class on creating a regular bow

A cute and beautiful bow is obtained when working with this method.

For work we need the following materials:

Stages of creation:

  • We create a ball from cotton wool, which we then wrap with a roll of paper. These actions will not allow the roll to wrinkle during the work process.
  • We create two thin strips of mastic, working with a rolling pin. We make the edges uniform by cutting them with our scissors.
  • We take one strip, throw a roll of cotton wool on top. We smear the mastic with water along the edges with a thin brush.
  • Throw a strip of mastic on the roll so that its edges are evenly joined from below.
  • Moves on to making a bow. To do this, fold the glued side of the strip into an accordion and coat the layers with water.
  • In the same way we create the second part of the bow. Then we attach two blanks, holding them a little with our hands.
  • From a small strip of mastic we create an accordion, with which, further, we wrap the bow, cutting off the excess with scissors. We will pull out rolls of cotton wool and attach our decoration to the area allotted to it.

Making a big bow

In this master class, we will analyze how to make a voluminous bow on a cake with your own hands. Sweet mass must be created dense and quick-drying. good option there will be milk cream.

What we need to work on this bow:

  • Mastic.
  • Rolls of foil and various films.
  • Rocks of different types.
  • Figured roller;
  • Knife.
  • Ribbon.

Stages of creation, step by step:

  • We make a pattern depending on the size of the desired bow. Roll out the mastic in a thin layer and cut out according to the detail scheme. For a voluminous bow, at least twelve large petals are required.
  • To get a bright bow, it is better to make different details. Therefore, we create six simple yellow petals and six pink petals with patterns, which were obtained thanks to the figured rolling pin. You can also use a figured roller to make a pair of thin red petals. Let's make them in the amount of ten pieces.
  • Gently powder the cut parts on the inside and leave them to dry well. It will be better to put them on rolls of special film or foil, avoiding a hard bend. The ends of the petals of the bow need to be glued.
  • After the parts have dried, let's start assembling the bow. You do not need to immediately glue the petals, it is better to start by trying on.
  • There should be three layers. We will lay out the first of six large petals, the second of four petals. The final row will consist of 2 parts. We drag thin red petals between large petals. They will give the bow more volume.
  • If, after preliminary work, the appearance of the product suits you, we slowly disassemble it. Then we assemble again, connecting the parts together in the central part. Instead of “glue”, you can take the usual cream for mastic or chocolate, which you need to put in a slide in the center of the composition.

Mastic for cake at home

We talked about how to make a cream from different ingredients for a cake above. However, it is worth noting that to create a bow, you can take another unusual basis.

Traditionally, every celebration is accompanied by a tea party. At the same time, every hostess strives to bake something tasty for the guests. The most favorite delicacy, as a rule, is a cake. It will be remembered by guests for a long time if it is effectively decorated with, for example, a mastic bow. The sweet mass is so plastic that it is a pleasure to work with it. Having mastered the preparation of just a few simple products from it, you can forever fall in love with this type of creativity.

You can cover the whole cake with mastic, sculpt various figures from it, create flower arrangements and voluminous inscriptions. We can say that it is very similar to plasticine. However, this is what it looks like at first glance. In order for the mass to be moderately plastic, harder or softer, you need to be able to cook it correctly. It is very easy to work with good mastic, but it is almost impossible to work with bad mastic.

Mastic can be:

  1. Chocolate. The recipe contains cocoa.
  2. Simple. Consists of powdered sugar, water, lemon juice and gelatin.
  3. Honey. It uses honey instead of powdered sugar.
  4. Marshmallow. It is prepared on the basis of chewing marshmallow.
  5. Dairy. Add to it powdered milk and condensed milk.
  6. Creamy or protein.

Which mastic to choose for yourself is a matter of taste. There is a basic recipe for making a small piece of sweet mass. Have to take:

  • powdered sugar - 125 g;
  • water - 15 ml;
  • gelatin - ¼ tsp;
  • lemon juice - ¼ tsp;
  • vanillin - to taste.

Gelatin is soaked for half an hour in cool water, and then slightly heated. Lemon juice and vanillin are added to warm gelatin. All ingredients are mixed, sifted water is gradually added to the solution. powdered sugar. If the specified amount of powder is not enough, it is added to such a state of the mass until it becomes dense and elastic. For some time, the mastic is kneaded on a table sprinkled with powdered sugar or starch. Then it is allowed to cool, wrapped in cling film and stored in the refrigerator.

If the mastic needs to be colored, then you can add to the mass at any stage of preparation food colorings. Can be used natural juices: beets, carrots, herbs, citrus zest.

Work materials

To work on decorating a cake, you need to prepare. So, the following materials will come in handy:

It is worth noting that the mastic itself does not hold its shape well. This is especially true for fine details. Therefore, a form for it needs to be created. To do this, use various mats and home-made three-dimensional figures. Mastic parts are laid out on these surfaces, and when dried, the latter take the shape and bend of bulk blanks. Such forms are made of foam, foil, napkins and even plasticine.

Before applying the sweet mass to the surface of the cake, one should take into account the fact that it begins to melt when interacting with water, therefore it is recommended to use only oil creams under it or apply directly to the biscuit.

How to make a bow for a cake

Very complex compositions can be formed from mastic. However, a beginner should not take them right away, because the desire to work will quickly disappear due to lack of skills. It is worth starting with simpler products. First you need to figure out how to make a small bow of mastic step by step. The whole process will take no more than an hour.

For a volumetric form, take, for example, a napkin. It is crumpled, giving the shape of a roll, and wrapped with clean cling film on top. The surface of the table and tools for work must also be clean.

To form the ribbons, the rolling pin and hands are dusted with starch or powdered sugar. A small piece is separated from the sweet mass, kneaded in the hands and rolled into a ball. Then the ball is rolled into a flat pancake with a thickness of no more than 2-3 mm. Two ribbons for a bow are cut out of the resulting canvas with a knife or a culinary scraper. The short edges of the ribbons are cut with scissors to make them even. The first tape of mastic is laid out on a sprinkled table. A roll of napkins is placed on top, as shown in the photo.

Envelop the roll with the first tape from the bottom up. Two short edges are smeared inside with water, they are slightly bent and carefully connected to each other. At the edges, you should get two neat folds. The first half of the bow is ready. Do the same with the second tape. As a result, the bow blanks should turn out as shown in the photo below.

The halves of the bow are smeared with water in order to put it together. After that, a small piece of mastic is rolled out and a small strip no more than 2–2.5 cm long is cut out of the canvas. It is needed to hide the junction of the halves of the bow. Before wrapping the middle of the bow with this ribbon, it is assembled into an accordion, forming arbitrary folds. Then the center is smeared with water and wrapped with a prepared ribbon. If desired, you can form two more ribbons under the bow and make small folds on them. The resulting bow is shown in the photo..

After the mastic dries, the bow can be attached to the cake. If the product is placed on a layer of mastic, then it should also be smeared with water for fixation.

Lush bow step by step

You can make a voluminous, large bow out of mastic in several stages. However, this will take some time, because it will be necessary to make a large number small parts and then dry them.

You also need to immediately decide what the product will be used for. If it is intended to decorate a cake, as in this case, you should know the approximate dimensions of the top cake. Based on this, you can choose the size of the bow so that the decoration looks harmonious on the cake.

In order to make such a mastic bow on a cake, you will need all the same materials and tools as for making a small bow. One has only to add that if you plan to make a bow with a relief pattern, as will be shown below, should use:

  • embossed silicone roller;
  • small shaped rock.

A part is cut off from the sweet mass and, having formed a ball out of it, roll it out first with an ordinary silicone rolling pin. Then the sweet pancake is cut into strips of the required size. Each strip is treated with a relief roller or rolling pin. Such parts need to be made 13 pieces.

The edges of each strip are smeared with water and connected to each other. Next, the petals are cut with scissors along the glued edge, as shown in the photo below. Then they are laid on their side to dry slightly on the board. When all 13 pieces are ready, a long roll is formed from napkins, wrapped with cling film and strung blanks on it for further drying.

Then on the cake you need to outline a circle for the base of the bow. To do this, take a glass, put it in the center of the cake and lightly circle it with a knife, without disturbing the layer of mastic.

A glaze of protein and powdered sugar is applied to the intended base of the bow. It does not contain water, so it will not soak parts from the sweet mass. Next, each petal is pressed into the glaze with the sharp end of the base and the first row of eight petals is laid out.

In the same way collect the second row of four petals. Add a little frosting to the center first.

The third row will be the last. It consists of only one petal. If at this point there is not enough glaze in the middle, you can add it there and fix the last petal. The bow is completely ready.

Now it remains only to call the guests and brew strong tea! Petals can additionally be decorated with mastic balls imitating beads. A cake with a mastic bow will become a real decoration of the festive table.

Do you know how a mastic bow is made? If you do not have such information, then we will present it in the materials of this article. From it you will learn about better mastic use to form bows and how exactly to make such decorations for birthday cakes.

So, to prepare the mastic, we need:

  • marshmallow marshmallow white- 4 packs;
  • powdered sugar - about 245 g;
  • lemon juice - a large spoon;
  • food coloring of the desired color - at the discretion.

Cooking process

Before telling you about how a mastic bow is made on a cake, you should tell you exactly how this confectionery material is prepared. To do this, take several packages white marshmallow marshmallow, and then put it in a deep bowl and put on water bath. Slowly heating the water in a large container, they wait until the main raw material has completely melted. Then the bowl of marshmallows is removed from the stove and a little powdered sugar is added to it.

Intensively mixing the components, a homogeneous and elastic mass is obtained. If it begins to crumble and crumble, then freshly squeezed lemon juice is additionally added to it.

Color selection

Before you make a bow out of mastic, you need to decide on the choice of color. It depends on what kind of cake you want to see in the end result. The color of the bow should be either the same as the dessert (a tone darker or lighter), or a contrasting one.

Thus, having decided on the color homemade treats and future decoration, the finished mastic is divided into required amount parts, add dyes to them and mix well again.

Making a classic mastic bow (master class)

A classic mastic cake bow is quite easy and simple to make. To do this, we need a marshmallow mass of white and lightly sprinkled with powdered sugar, both bases are thinly rolled out on a board. Then a rectangle with sides of 4 and 16 centimeters is cut out of white mastic. As for the pink layer, it is necessary for making peas. To do this, take a cap from a pen with a diameter of 1 centimeter and cut out mastic with it. Then the resulting circles are beautifully distributed over a white rectangle and pressed with a rolling pin.

As a result of such actions, you should get a light canvas with pink polka dots.

We form a bow

To form a classic mastic bow, we need two tubes of the same diameter (3-4 centimeters). Sprinkling them lightly with powdered sugar, they immediately begin to make a sweet decoration. To do this, both ends of the polka dot canvas are folded so that they are both exactly in the middle. Then this part is beautifully assembled (assembly) and a kind of seam is made. The previously prepared tubes are immediately inserted into the resulting holes.

To make the mastic bow more beautiful, its central part is decorated with a ribbon formed from a pink marshmallow mass.

After the white polka dot bow is cooked, it is immediately sent to the refrigerator. This is necessary in order for it to freeze and retain the shape given to it. In the future, the decoration can be safely placed on the cake using additional elements, confectionery powder and other products.

Mastic for a cake at home: a recipe for cooking

We talked about how to do it above. However, it should be noted that another base can be used to make a cake bow. For her we need:

  • cold water - 1 glass;
  • sugar - 2 cups;
  • gelatin - 25 g;
  • invert syrup - 170 g;
  • salt - ¼ dessert spoon;
  • powdered sugar - optional;
  • starch - 300 g.

Products are cooked for 8 minutes. Then they are beaten with a mixer until the mass increases by 3 times. After that, powdered sugar is poured into the base. With the help of a spatula, it is laid out on a table, thickly sprinkled with starch, and kneaded well.

Finally, the elastic mastic is divided into several parts, and then added and thoroughly mixed.

We cut out products

To do this, the sweet base is rolled into a thin layer, and then 6-8 cm strips with wedge-shaped ends are cut out. The number of such products must be at least 4. By the way, the more there are, the more magnificent the bow will turn out.

The cut blanks are folded in half, not forgetting to insert a pencil or pen in the middle. In this form, they are placed in the refrigerator. After solidification, you should get a lot of voluminous figures.

In order for the self-made decoration to look harmonious on the cake, long ribbons and a canvas are cut out separately, which will later cover the entire dessert.

We form a bow

Having prepared all the necessary details, immediately proceed to decorate the cake. How to make a bow from mastic? A master class on the manufacture of such an element will be presented right now.

To begin with, the prepared cake is covered with a previously rolled layer, cutting off all unnecessary edges. After that, long ribbons are placed on the dessert. Spread them on top of the cake, preferably criss-cross. Then pre-formed volumetric blanks are beautifully placed on the tapes. They are laid out in such a way that you get a very magnificent and beautiful bow. If desired, several such bows can be made on one dessert.

After the cake is decorated with mastic products, it is immediately sent to the refrigerator. After a few hours, dessert in the form of a wrapped gift can be safely presented to the festive table.

How to make a bow from mastic? Why is he good? We will consider these and other questions in the article. A lush and beautiful bow can turn into an independent cake decoration. An impeccable option for the base is round pastries. You can also make a rectangular cake, add ribbon around the edges, and you will have a product that looks like a gift box. Very interesting results can be achieved by combining colors: a lush bright multi-colored bow or a single-color laconic one is a matter of your taste and imagination.

Bow

We would like to present you a master class "Bow from mastic". First you need to make a bow petal pattern. Usually a large bow is made, the same size as pastries. If the cake is, for example, 22 cm in diameter, then the bow must be made with a diameter of 19 cm. In this case, the pattern must be made with dimensions of 3.5 X 19.5 cm. The shape of your bow depends on the parameters of the pattern, so you can vary it as you like .

Details

We continue to create a bow from mastic. To create it, you will need a dense, quick-drying mastic. You can apply milk mastic, the recipe that we will provide you with below. Before using, add a little more powder to it than indicated in the recipe. Roll out a layer of mastic in a thin layer and cut the petals according to the pattern.

The number of petals can be changed, thereby modifying the shape of the bow. For our pattern, at least 12 petals are needed. Before drying, powder them thoroughly from the wrong side.

Drying

A mastic bow is an amazing decoration for a cake. So, dry the cut petals thoroughly. Use improvised means for this: rolls of foil and cling film. They are perfectly round and have identical dimensions, which is very convenient. To avoid a strong bend, add more foils of smaller parameters. Glue the ends of the bow at the ends.

Options

A mastic bow can be made in various options. You can make six even pink petals and six yellow ones. In this case, roll the pink ones with a curly rolling pin. Additionally, you can make red thin petals. It is convenient to make them with a special roller. Whoever has it is great, since such thin petals give an excellent effect, the bow becomes brighter and more magnificent.

So, you already have 12 wide elements ready for the base, by connecting which you get a circle. It is very convenient to make thin red petals shorter and just put them in the gaps between the wide ones.

Elements

Few people know how to make a bow out of mastic. For our bow we needed:

    six pink curly wide petals;

    six yellow wide petals;

  • ten red narrow.

Assembly

So how to make a bow from mastic? Let's start assembling the decoration. To begin with, do not fasten the petals together, try them on each other, take a closer look at them.

Our bow has three layers: six wide petals at the base, four wide elements in the second tier and two on top. In the space between the petals, for splendor, you need to slip red thin petals, as we talked about above.

If you have already collected a bow and it appearance completely satisfied you, carefully disassemble and assemble it again, but already fastening the petals together. It is convenient to do this with melted chocolate or the usual mastic cream that you used when leveling.

You need to fasten only in the center, putting a cream there in a slide. Then no one will notice the junction. The cream will harden in the refrigerator and your bow will hold well.

In the manufacture of bows, you will need experience and numerous tests. We recommend not limiting yourself to 12 elements, but making them in large numbers so that there is a reserve. After all, if there are not enough of them, then there will also not be enough time to create new parts of the bow and dry them.

Milk mastic

How to make mastic? It is known that milk mastic is universal and easy to use. Sculpt figures from it, beautifully cover the cake with it. Due to the oily and sticky structure of the mastic, even without special confectionery glue, you can glue the details of the figures. Only this should be done immediately, without waiting for drying. After the figures dry, they will become strong and solid. But they can be eaten.

This mastic has only one drawback - it is not white, since infant formula and condensed milk have a yellowish tint. It is impossible to get pale blue or pure white from milk.

So, how to make mastic? To make this product, you need to buy one package of baby formula "Malyutka" (350 g), one can of condensed milk, 350 g of powdered sugar.

It should be noted that any milk formula can be used. You can also use dry cream or milk instead. The quality of condensed milk is especially important. It should contain only sugar and milk. Use very fine powder. You can buy it in stores, but you can grind sugar in a coffee grinder at home. The main thing is that there are no grains in the powder, otherwise the mastic will have an inhomogeneous structure, it will crack and the figures will turn out to be sloppy.

How to cook?

First, mix the milk mixture and powdered sugar in a saucepan, and then add the condensed milk and knead the mastic. After a couple of minutes, during the kneading process, you will feel that the product has become loose, sticky and heterogeneous. After another five minutes, the mastic will become homogeneous, well mixed. Wash your hands, dry, sprinkle with powder and form a ball out of it.

To make it convenient to work with mastic, wrap it in cellophane and leave it on the table to strengthen the structure for half an hour. After that, separate the desired piece from it, add dye and roll it out for tightness. Also, immediately and after kneading, you can work with it, as it is soft and perfectly rolls with powder, does not stick.

The thickness of the mastic for covering should be approximately 3-4 mm. On a cake, which has a diameter of 24 cm, a height of 8-10 cm, it takes about 400 g of mastic.

Agree, your guests will remember a cake with a mastic bow for a long time! Store leftover product in the refrigerator. If you took out the semi-finished product from the refrigerator, it will be solid, but it will quickly become usable if it is heated in the microwave, stirring. That is, put the mastic in the microwave oven for five seconds, remove and knead. If it's not soft enough, put it back in the oven for five seconds and knead it again. Repeat these steps until the product becomes plastic.

Always work with mastic with powdered hands. Roll it out on a table, previously sprinkled with powder. Otherwise, it will stick.

Content

No birthday is complete without a cake. This symbol of the holiday has firmly entered our daily life. Cake is often associated with all of our best childhood memories.

Today, this integral attribute of the celebration is given special importance, and close attention is paid to its decoration.

In this article, we'll take a look at how to make one of the most popular and versatile cake decorations, the fondant bow.

Before proceeding to the process of manufacturing a decorative element, let's take a closer look at its varieties.

There are several types of cake mastic bow:

  • classical;
  • volume;
  • vanguard.

Consider the manufacturing process of each type in more detail.

Classical

Many novice non-professional cake decorators, in the process of making their first works, often ask themselves the question: how to make a bow from mastic? Our master class will help you answer this question.

To fashion a classic mastic bow for decoration birthday cake you will need the following materials:

  • pre-prepared mastic of the desired color;
  • rolling pin;
  • round knife for cutting pizza;
  • ordinary kitchen knife;
  • napkins or paper towels;
  • tassel;
  • metal ruler.

Step-by-step master class for making a classic cake bow:

  1. We begin the manufacture of a decorative element for decorating a cake by rolling the mastic with a rolling pin.
  2. After completing the first stage, you should carefully cut out a rectangle with a round knife and a ruler. The resulting blank should be divided into strips of equal width, which will later be used to make a bow. In total, for a mastic bow you will need 4 strips and one slightly smaller for the middle.
  3. We twist the napkins into two tubes. The edges of the two strips from which the bow will be formed are slightly moistened with a brush, wrapped around the napkin and glued the two ends of one strip together. Then lightly press the mastic along the edges, forming the center.
  4. From the other two strips, cut out the ends of the bow with a kitchen knife.
  5. Let's do the middle. We carefully fold the smallest strip in size with an “accordion”. Then, with its help, we connect the first and second blanks.
