Children have a unique diet, not the same as adults. Their diet should not contain spicy seasonings, food should not be fried or fatty. All this negatively affects the still fragile children's stomach.

Dishes intended for baby food must certainly be stewed, boiled, baked in the oven, or steamed or. This is especially true for those children for whom dietary nutrition is recommended.

However, this does not mean that such food is monotonous and tasteless. Quite the contrary, it is appetizing and very healthy. In dishes prepared using one of the above methods, all the vitamins and nutrients necessary for the child are preserved.

In addition, if you prepare children's soup correctly or bake meat in the oven, believe me, they are somewhat on par with fried foods. And the children's soup with meatballs is simply delicious. It is prepared quite simply and quickly.

Meatball soup is suitable for children over 1.5 years old

To prepare it you will need the following products:

  • minced young beef or lean pork - 250 g
  • carrots - 1 pc.
  • egg - 1 pc.
  • onion - 1 pc.
  • potatoes - 2 pcs.
  • dill greens

Children's soup with meatballs - recipe with photo:

To obtain minced meat, pass the pulp of young beef or pork through a meat grinder with a fine grid 2 times. For mothers like me, who have meat or minced meat prepared for future use, as they say, and are in the freezer, it is necessary to defrost it before cooking.
Finely chop the onion.

Leave half for minced meat, pour the other half into a pan of boiling water.

Add onion, salt to the minced meat and break one egg. Mix everything well.

From the minced meat we form round meatballs for the soup.

Place the meatballs in the pan and cook over low heat for 10 minutes.

Meanwhile, while the meatballs are cooking, cut the potatoes into small square pieces.

Cut the carrots into strips.

Add the vegetables one by one to the pan with the meatballs and cook the soup until tender.

At the very end of cooking, add a spoonful of olive oil and dill.

The step-by-step introduction of complementary foods into the baby’s menu implies a mandatory introduction to meat puree. This product, rich in proteins and fats, is necessary for the full growth of the baby. In addition, it contains a lot of vitamins and easily digestible iron. Gradually, meat products become more varied, and the child’s chewing skills develop. By 8 months, you can prepare baby meatballs and soups with these delicious products. At the same time, do not forget about the rules for preparing children's dishes, because the baby is not yet ready to eat “adult” food.

There are established provisions for the preparation of children's dishes, which a young mother must adhere to in order to safely feed the baby and preserve the beneficial properties of its components:

  • Meat dishes are introduced into the diet of children from 8 months of age, but in special cases, incl. if hemoglobin is low, the pediatrician may recommend meat puree as a second complementary food.
  • The amount of healthy food depends on age and does not exceed 70 grams by 12 months.

Fish meatballs are given to children no earlier than 10 months, also taking into account the allergenicity and fat content of each type. River fish is considered more allergenic than sea fish.

  • For children prone to allergies, egg whites are not added. Flour, semolina and other products with gluten are also not used.
  • Children's soup, like other dishes for children, must be freshly prepared. They cannot be stored or reheated.

Choosing the ingredients.

Vegetables. Vegetable additives already familiar to the baby are used. Safe ingredients will be zucchini. Such ingredients are rich in vegetable protein and contain dietary fiber necessary for normal intestinal function. Pumpkin, carrots, potatoes are introduced later. You can make a bright assorted vegetable dish for your baby with the addition of meatballs. Vegetable broths are considered safe, but may cause increased gas formation.

We carefully choose the type of meat. It is important to remember that rabbit and turkey, veal are the best option for kids. Chicken is more likely to cause allergic reactions. Pork can put excessive strain on a child’s gastrointestinal tract. Ground beef is classified as refractory, since its fatty acids are difficult for infants to digest.

Cereals and pasta. Choose from among already familiar species. Rice and semolina go well with chicken meatballs. Pasta and noodles go well with beef and pork products.

Be especially careful when choosing cereals for children with celiac disease.

Spices and salt. These products are added to children's menus as they grow older, taking into account the child's tendency to allergic reactions. It is recommended to use seasonings that correspond to family traditions for no earlier than 2 years.

Cooking Rules

Before preparing a baby dish, it is useful for a young mother to familiarize herself with some of the features of preparing dishes with meatballs for babies up to one year old:

  • It is better to make meatballs from a whole piece of meat, rather than from store-bought minced meat. The meat is pre-soaked. Such actions will reduce the concentration of extractives. Then the meat is thoroughly cleaned of films, cut into pieces and passed through a meat grinder several times.
  • How long to cook the product depends on the type of meat. Semi-finished chicken products, rabbit or turkey products - about 25 minutes. Beef meatballs - 30 minutes. Veal - 20 minutes. Pork - 25 minutes.
  • Meatballs can be cooked in a double boiler for second courses. Cooking time: 40 minutes. A tasty and tender option - meatballs with gravy and side dish will definitely please your child. You can also cook healthy children's soup in a slow cooker.

Meat and fish broths are given no earlier than 2 years. Frying is also not used in children's nutrition. It’s especially not worth frying the meatballs themselves.

  • Meatball soup for a child under 1 year old is prepared using second water. Meat products are placed in boiling water and boiled for about 5 minutes. Then the broth is drained and the pan is filled with a new portion of water, brought to a boil, the meatballs are reinserted and cooked until tender along with the other ingredients.
  • Meatballs for baby food can be frozen raw. To do this, place the balls on a cutting board and place them in the freezer for several hours. After freezing, distribute into single serving bags for easy storage and subsequent defrosting.

Children under one year old are given salt in the amount of 0.2 g per day.

  • Timely collection of foam on the surface of the liquid will make the dish transparent.
  • To prevent the minced meat from sticking to your hands during the process of forming balls, your palms are moistened with water.
  • If you make very large balls, you will get meatballs without rice. Such a product will take a long time to cook and risks falling apart during heat treatment. The optimal meatball size is a large walnut.

Moreover, such a meat product attracts the child’s attention and arouses interest. And the taste of the dish leaves few kids indifferent.

Tender and healthy - this is how meatballs for a child should be, prepared at home from chicken, beef, turkey or fish.

Recipe 2: meatballs for children (step-by-step photos)

We tell you how to cook meatballs for children. As soon as a child switches to adult solid food, many mothers are tormented by the question: What to please their baby with, healthy and tasty. A dish for a child should be made only from fresh and high-quality products. It is better to cook just before lunch or you can make semi-finished products and freeze them.

  • minced sirloin or chicken breast,
  • medium sized carrots,
  • half an onion per 300 grams of minced meat,
  • a couple of quail eggs to give the minced meat viscosity,
  • semolina to roll our balls.

Under no circumstances should salt or pepper be used while the child is small. You can add a little greenery. I already had ready-made minced meat, if you have chicken fillet, you need to turn it in a meat grinder a couple of times. You can immediately add carrots and onions, directly into the meat grinder.

To begin, grate the carrots on a fine grater and finely chop the onion.

The ingredients must be combined and mixed thoroughly.

If the mince is liquid, one egg will be enough.

We make small balls of the same shape from our minced meat, about 2 cm in diameter. For a child, size is not important, especially when they need to be chopped with a fork. It is necessary to calculate the weight in portions, for example, two meatballs for lunch.

For children, foods are steamed or boiled. A double boiler works well; you can add fresh vegetables and meatballs to create a healthy and tasty dish. Or just boil them with any side dish, they cook quickly.

Recipe 4: Turkey Meatballs for Kids

Turkey meatballs are perfect as a main dish on any table. They are a good alternative to cutlets that are more familiar to us, but at the same time they are much healthier and have a more unusual taste. We will make today's delicious meat balls from minced turkey: you can buy it ready-made or cook it at home from a piece of fresh poultry fillet. The vegetable component of the minced meat will be carrots and zucchini. You can add some onion or garlic to your turkey meatballs if you like. At home, you can prepare meat balls with any ingredients.

The step-by-step recipe with photos that we have presented below will tell you how to bake tender and juicy turkey meatballs and make them as healthy as possible. The basis will be steaming, and only then will we brown the meatballs in the oven. To make the meatballs more filling, we will add boiled rice to them: this way you can serve the dish even without side dishes. Cooking will not take much time, but the result will pleasantly surprise you and tender steamed turkey meatballs will suit your taste.

  • turkey meat - 500 gr
  • carrots - 1 pc.
  • zucchini - 1 piece
  • dried thyme - to taste
  • cereals, rice - 150-200 g
  • parmesan cheese - to taste
  • olive oil - to taste
  • salt - to taste

To prepare such simple and tender meatballs, we will need turkey fillet, which we will carefully grind in a meat grinder or in any other way known to you. To diversify the taste of the meat balls, we will add finely chopped carrots and one similarly chopped zucchini to the lean minced meat. Mix the ingredients thoroughly and add salt and dried thyme to taste. Wash and boil the rice in advance, and then add it to the meat: a third of the total meat is enough. Mix all the minced meat thoroughly until smooth, and then form it into neat small balls.

The bottom and sides of the multicooker bowl can be greased with olive oil or butter. Also, if necessary, reduce the amount of fat, you can line the mold with regular crumpled cabbage leaves. The turkey meatballs will steam for 10 minutes.

These meatballs can already be served as a main Lenten dish, however, you can make them even more appetizing and tender. Therefore, we place the meat balls on a baking sheet and sprinkle them with grated Parmesan cheese on top. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees in advance and place the baking sheet with meatballs in the uppermost compartment. Bake the dish for 8-10 minutes until golden brown and completely cooked.

We serve the finished dish hot with a wide variety of salads. Steamed minced turkey meatballs with rice are ready.

We make minced chicken or just buy it. Now mix with a raw egg, add a little salt and pepper. Add breadcrumbs and mix everything thoroughly. Using thick minced meat, make small meatballs.

Boil water and cook the formed meatballs in it for 15 minutes. At this time, you need to heat the flour in a clean, dry frying pan, and then add milk to it. We do this in order to prepare an amazing milk sauce.

Recipe 7: Chicken meatballs for a child

  • minced chicken - 150 gr.;
  • carrots - quarter;
  • onion - slice;
  • dill - 2 sprigs;
  • semolina - 1 tsp;
  • sour cream 20% - 1 tsp.

Chop the dill and add to the minced meat.

Chop a small piece of onion very finely and add it to the minced meat.

Grate a piece of carrot as finely as possible and add it to the minced meat.

Add a little salt and ground black pepper and grind the minced meat with a fork so that all the components are reunited and the juice is released.

Add a teaspoon of semolina to the minced meat. (in the photo it looks like a tablespoon, but in fact, it is a standard teaspoon. And a teaspoon of sour cream. This is so that the minced meat does not crumble and keeps the shape of the meatballs well.

That's it, our minced meat is ready. Now you need to knead it thoroughly with your hands and beat it several times in a bowl. As a result of all these manipulations, we get a lump like this. Cover the bowl with minced meat with a lid (plate, film, etc.) and put it in the refrigerator for 40 minutes.

We take the minced meat out of the refrigerator and form it into balls of the diameter you need. I have these small, standard meatballs

Now a little about the cooking method. Through trial and error, I chose exactly this method, which I will talk about later, because the meatballs then turn out very juicy and tender, and tasty, of course.

I don’t have a modern double boiler, but I have this iron “sieve” that fits into a saucepan of any diameter. Pour a little water into the saucepan, cover with a lid, and you get a double boiler of the simplest design.

But, I also put a sheet of foil on this iron thing so that all the juice of the prepared food does not flow down, but remains in the foil.

I put the meatballs in this foil and pour a little water so that they don’t stick.

I close the foil and cover the saucepan with a lid.

In this way, the meatballs are cooked for about 30 minutes. They turn out very juicy with a little gravy. They taste amazing, they just melt in your mouth. The child eats them with pleasure.
You can serve them with any side dish: porridge, potato or vegetable puree, pasta, etc. We had them with buckwheat.

Recipe 8: fish balls for children (step by step)

Fish balls are a dietary dish for children that can be offered to a child with any side dish - vegetables or cereals. Fish meatballs prepared according to this recipe turn out very tender and juicy. Thanks to the small size of the meatballs and delicate consistency, meatballs are convenient and easy to eat for children under one year old and a little older, who have not yet developed all their teeth.

Ready-made fish balls can be prepared not only as an independent dish, but also as a base for making very tasty fish soup for children.

To prepare fish balls for children, it is best to choose white sea fish: cod, haddock, pollock or hake.

  • sea fish – 700 gr. (weight with bones and skin without head)
  • white bread – 100 gr.
  • milk – 170 ml.
  • onion – 1 pc.
  • parsley – 20 gr.
  • salt – 1 tsp.
  • egg – 1 pc.

for the sauce:

  • water for broth - 0.5 l.
  • flour - 2 tbsp.
  • sour cream – 4 tbsp.
  • butter – 2 tsp.
  • salt - a pinch

Clean the fish: cut off the fins, head, remove the entrails, rinse the fish well under running water.

Separate the fillet from the skin and bones. Cut the fillet into small pieces.

Do not throw away the skin and bones of the fish; they will be needed for the sauce.

If white bread has a hard crust, cut it off. Soak white bread in milk.

Peel the onion and cut into quarters.

Wash the parsley and chop coarsely.

Before you start preparing the minced meat, cook the fish broth for the sauce. To do this, pour the prepared skin and bones with the required amount of water, bring to a boil over low heat and cook the broth for half an hour. Remove the finished broth from the heat.

Proceed to preparing the minced meat. Pass through a meat grinder twice pieces of fish fillet, previously soaked in milk and properly squeezed white bread, onion quarters, chopped parsley.

In a separate bowl, beat the raw egg well.

Add the egg to the minced fish and stir. Salt the minced meat and mix again.

With wet hands, form the minced fish into meatballs the size of a walnut.

Steam the meatballs for 10 minutes or place them in boiling water and cook for 10-15 minutes over medium heat until tender.

While the meatballs are cooking, prepare the sauce. Fry the flour in a frying pan until creamy and has a slight nutty smell.

Pour fish broth into the pan with flour, constantly stirring the mixture with a spatula so that no lumps form. If lumps still appear, the sauce must be strained. Let the sauce simmer over low heat for 2-3 minutes.

But this does not mean that all the baby’s food will be bland and tasteless. On the contrary, stewed and steamed dishes are very appetizing and healthy, what more does a child need? Meatball soup is suitable for those children who are already 1.5 years old.

Soup for babies

If you are worried about the age at which you should introduce your child to soup, then you can safely try feeding the first dish to a child older than six months.

The baby's body is ready for this dish from the age of 8 months; clear soups from vegetable broth are prepared for such babies.

Benefits of soup

  1. Source of fiber, minerals and easily digestible protein. Maintains the body's water balance.
  2. The first dish activates digestion.
  3. Light soups with vegetables or dietary meat are very good for overweight children.

Types of soups

Vegetable . The recipe uses only vegetables; such soups are good for little ones. Can be prepared in the form of cream. For children over 1 year old, cook soups with simply chopped ingredients.

How to make soup healthier?

  1. If you are preparing soup for a baby, use only those products that have already been fed to the baby. This will protect him from allergies.
  2. Cook soup only in clean water; tap water is not suitable for a child, even infused or boiled water.
  3. Do not allow the use of stale ingredients, wash the food before cooking, and do not fry for a small child (you can fry the soup after the child reaches three years of age).
  4. Do not cook too much soup; this dish is useful to eat fresh; after reheating, the beneficial components are not preserved.
  5. If your baby eats an unsalted dish, that’s good; the less salt you add to the soup, the healthier it will be.

Subtleties of making soup for children

  1. Simmer the soup broth covered over low heat.
  2. Add vegetables only to boiling water; they will retain more vitamins.
  3. Add salt a few minutes before the dish is ready.
  4. The meat broth does not need to be highly concentrated (drain off the first water), do not cook soup with bones, use lean types of meat.

A little about the soup...

According to historical information, the main component of this glorious soup - meatballs - comes from Italy. According to some sources, the word meatball comes from the Italian frittatella, which means “to fry.” According to other sources, “meatballs” is translated as “small balls of minced meat.”

Chicken meatball soup became widespread in Russia during the reign of Peter I. This dish, which originated in Italy, became especially popular in Sweden. Köttbullar are the famous Swedish meatballs. Here they are served with a creamy sauce; the side dish is potatoes with the addition of sour berries, such as lingonberries. Swedish meatballs, unlike the Italian original, are prepared with the addition of eggs, breadcrumbs, fried onions and cream. Everyone remembers from childhood that such meatballs are the favorite dish of Carlson, the famous hero of the fairy tale by Astrid Lingren.

In the original, meatballs are prepared from minced fish or meat, to which spices, herbs, a loaf soaked in milk or, alternatively, breadcrumbs are added. These meat balls are much smaller in size than cutlets and slightly inferior to meatballs. It is important that rice, potatoes and other similar ingredients are not added to them.

The classic meatball recipe gets its own twist in every country. Meat or fish balls are served with or without sauce, fried, stewed or baked. A meatball dressed on a small skewer is already a kebab. Everyone also chooses different meats for meatballs. In China, minced meat is made from pork, in Sepher Africa - from sheep tails.

Chicken meatball soup is very popular in Russia and other countries. The addition of meatballs makes the dish filling and appealing. Ground chicken is best for meatball soup. It gives the soup a special lightness and nutrition.
