Homemade pea soup with smoked meats can be made using smoked chicken, sausage or hunting sausages. Today I will teach you how to cook delicious pea soup with smoked ribs in a slow cooker, and my recipe with step-by-step photos will help you not to miss a single detail of the cooking process.

How to cook pea soup with smoked meats in a slow cooker

We start cooking by taking split peas. We will need 1 glass of it (I have a glass with a volume of 200 grams). Now we need to decide whether we will soak the peas or not. I will say this, if time allows, you can soak it for 3-6 hours in cold water, and if time is short, then you can cook pea soup in a slow cooker without pre-soaking. At the same time, I never increase the cooking time; it manages to cook on the standard soup program in 1 hour.

I had enough time, so today I soaked the peas. After a few hours, drain the water and rinse the grains under the tap. The photo shows how “washed” and beautiful they turned out. 😉

Cut 2 large potatoes into cubes or wedges.

Smoked pork ribs, approximately 400 grams, cut along the intercostal fibers. If you chop the ribs yourself into smaller pieces, then after this procedure the smoked meat will need to be rinsed with running water.

Pour a couple of tablespoons of oil into the multicooker bowl and fry the onions and carrots, chopped into cubes and strips.

Add the ribs to the frying and lightly fry on both sides along with the vegetables.

The aroma from this action will be simply magical!

Now, all that remains is to download the remaining products. Add potatoes and peas to the pan.

Fill the contents with 1.6 liters of cold water. Close the lid and set the “Soup” mode for 1 hour. There is no need to add salt to the soup at this stage, because the ribs are already salty. Add salt, preferably halfway through cooking.

After the set time, turn off the multicooker and open the lid.

Pour the delicious and very aromatic pea soup into bowls and sprinkle with fresh herbs.

So, without much hassle and worry, quickly (in just 1 hour), you can prepare pea soup with smoked meats. Due to the fact that it is cooked on a finished meat product, foam does not form and the soup does not leak.
